Billboard Go-Go bar, Nana Plaza, Bangkok

Filed under: Go-Go Bars.I would really like to say something good about Billboard Go-Go bar, the new bar that has replaced Hollywood Carousel Go-Go bar at the top floor of Nana Plaza. Really. But I don’t see anything to say. Every time a new Go-Go bar opens in Bangkok (and that is not so often) I get excited. Will we finally get the Bangkok equivalent of Pattaya’s What’s Up? Go Go bar or Airport Go Go bar?
But every time I am disappointed. We always get more of the same. Or worse.
1,000 to 1,200 people read this blog and forum every day, of which 350 to 400 are based in Thailand. Maybe among them are a few bar owners. I would really like to hear their opinion about this bar in particular and Go-Go bars in general.
I am no expert in the bar industry and I have no bar and no intention to ever open one, however I’ve seen quite a few of them and here are my thoughts when I visit Billboard.
- Putting money to refurbish the Go-Go bar outside is a good idea. But how about the inside? Once customers are in you want to keep them in, right? At Billboard they did a very good job on the outside with a new neon decoration, but the inside hasn’t changed. They have simply added a few posters (billboards?) of Black hip hop singers and blond (porn?) stars. Billboard is a very large Go-Go bar and it looks like a disused warehouse. It needs more than a few pictures here and there to become cozy.
- Billboard is too large in my opinion, and they currently only use one carousel, the bigger one. Then why not put an additional wall and separate the room in two bars? At the beginning only one bar would be used and one carousel. The place would feel less empty.
- The girls have a sexy yellow uniform but they are not sexy at all. Only one that I would have consider and really if I wanted to BF here. And the showgirl (one girl for one show). I reckon it must be pretty difficult to hire Go-Go girls, but not having at least one or two pretty is a no-go IMO.
- The shows are a good idea and Billboard‘s carousel is fully equipped with an on-stage shower and water drain system, but one has to be creative and offer more than a pretty girl taking a shower. Hollywood Carousel shows were actually better with the beer shower or the customer on stage for a soft SM show.
At some point I saw two very pretty girls coming in. They looked like they were familiar with the place and I thought they were some employees coming for a late shift. Not at all. They were with what looked like regular customers. Too bad. And what is the bar where customers bring girls from outside to have fun?
As a conclusion, for now Billboard Go Go bar looks very much like Hollywood Carousel Go Go bar at the end of its life. A rather bad start. Let’s see if things get better in the future…
