Bangkok Curfew Update – May 30th, 2010

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

The curfew has been lifted on Bangkok yesterday. Everything is not back to normal yet, but nightlife is starting over and that’s a good thing. It shouldn’t take long before it’s business as usual again here in Bangkok.

Twins and Siamese Twins Beer Bars, Sukhumvit Soi 23, by Lumpini

Friday, May 28th, 2010

This is a reader submission by Lumpini. Between Sukhumvit Road and Soi Cowboy. Twins Bar is the larger of the two and has the same owner as the ultra-thin Siamese Twins Bar a couple of doors down. Both stay open real late. In fact, they don’t seem to close at all until the last customer [...]

Come to Bangkok! It’s safe. Ok, we have to go to bed at midnight, but that won’t last for ever. On the other hand, tons of hotels are offering discount prices! WOW Bangkok is one of them. It’s a brand new boutique hotel with only 7 rooms, and as of today, it’s empty. WOW Bangkok [...]

Bangkok Curfew Update – May 25th, 2010

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Guess what? The curfew is extended! It’s extended for 4 nights, until Saturday morning, from midnight to 4am. Yesterday I went to Patpong and it was very very quiet. The curfew in Bangkok is extended for 2 more nights, from 11pm till 5am, until Tuesday morning. Somehow I expected it, but I just don’t get it. What’s the point? Do you really think that there are Red Shirt/Black Shirt snipers out there, waiting for us? And if there are, do you think that they [...]

Guest Friendly Hotel Bangkok: DaVinci Suites, Sukhumvit soi 31

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Sukhumvit soi 31 is probably the safest soi in Bangkok. This is where Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva lives and there are police check points at every intersection (but they don’t stop the traffic. They just watch). And this will probably last for a while. You will feel safe at DaVinci Suites. This boutique hotel is [...]
