Reader Submission: Adelphi Suites on Sukhumvit soi 8 is nice, but not guest friendly, by John TF

Adelphi Suites on Sukumvit Soi 8 (less than 20 meters from Lolita’s)

Nice place, with emphasis on “nice”. There’s loads of business people and families and they charge 800 per guest and night (I think 1 guest maximum). They’re clearly not too keen on having loads of bar girls traffic through the lobby, but the gay dude in the reception didn’t make too much fuss about my girl from Rainbow 4.

The price can be pushed down to 2500 baht per night through Agoda and the internet is included but a bit wonky.

Adelphi Suites Bangkok is ideally located on Sukhumvit soi 8, close to Nana Plaza and Nana BTS Station. All the Guest Friendly Hotels in Bangkok are listed here.

Note: I strongly suggest that you confirm all details with the reception BEFORE booking. Prices are valid at the time of writing only.

I don’t know about their charging policy, since I’ve never paid for a room there… But I do live nearby and am constantly by this place…which now has a great outdoors bar with really good drink prices every night.

All I can say is, the place is usually crawling with guys and their dates for the evening… big time… being, as it is, located about midway between Nana and Soi Cowboy…

Given the amount of business they do in tourist guys, I’d be surprised if they really were trying to charge an extra 800 per night, per pop… on top of what is already a pretty pricey room rate (admittedly in a nicely appointed hotel).

Maybe they do that, if you’ve made a single-rate, one person booking. But most people I know, and I recall back from my tourist days, automatically book a double room — even if the other person in the double happens to change every night… :-)

I currently have a reservation at Adelphi; as soon as I read the review above I fired off an email to the hotel to verify thier policy. They are girl friendly!!!!!! See below from the hotel.

    Dear Sir,

In regards to inquiry, we would like to inform you that we do not charge to bring female (overnight guest) to room for the night. I think you are talking about 800 Baht/room/night fee is our extra bed price.

    Thank you

Thanks for the info. I will try and stop by and clarify this.

That sounds more like it… Just as I had suspected… No problem, unless someone’s planning to order the extra rollaway-bed for their companion… :-(
