Dali goes Coyote!
by Suk Psycho ~ February 8th, 2009. Filed under: Beer Bars, Coyote.I saw the sign a long time ago. It is a new sign promoting the Dali Coyote Club at the second floor of Dali Club on Sukhumvit soi 33. I wanted to check it out for a while and this is what I did recently.
The second floor at Dali is a huge room with a large bar on one side, a small stage on another side, a pool table on another side and a few couches and tables in the middle. And they do feature, yes, Coyotes.
The difference with a Go Go bar is that there are no chrome poles, that the girls are actually dancing (not just one step back - one step forward) and that they don’t wear any number on them. Apart from that, it is pretty much the same.
It was friday night and the bar was empty. I was the only customer except for a couple who played pool. 5 or 6 coyotes were taking turn on the stage. Not prettier than your average go-go girl. Not better dancer either. Nothing outstanding there.
I wonder how they can make money with such a place, especially when you consider that Dali Club downstairs is also often very quiet and doesn’t seem to be a milk cow for the owner.
The beer is priced 130 baht and the LD 180 to 200 baht. The BF is 1500 baht (it is 1300 at the Dali Club). I talked to 2 girls, one service girl and one coyote. Both said that they would go ST for 3000 baht, non negotiable for the first one, and only discounted to 2500 by the second one. “This is not soi Cowboy”, one said. Well…
The Coyote effect…

Interesting review. I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of checking this place out. It did however, jar back memories of a place called “Sanuks”. Basically a dance area, some platforms for the “coyotes” and some pool tables. It looks like of the bars, MPs’, clubs, etc… reviewed here. There isn’t much mention of After Hour places. If I remember correctly Sanuks was one of those sort of places where some of the girls went to hang out after the curfew took effect. Nowadays, I’m assuming Spice or Spicey is predominantly the place to be.

@MS: Spice Club and Spicy are 2 different after hour clubs, yes. These are the places for late freelance action, as well as Tunnel and Bossy.

““This is not soi Cowboy”, one said. Well…”
This is the clueless attitude that one sees in most coyote bars. There seems to be a (very misplaced) notion held by many coyote bar owners that their ‘coyotes’ are more attractive than your average gogo dancers.
As we all know — this is most often not true. What you *do* get in a coyote bar is a girl who thinks she’s some kind of twenty-first century geisha, and either thinks she’s worth thousands of baht for a mediocre short-time experience, or she believes she’s somehow too good to be barfined. (Shh.. nobody tell her, she’s dancing half-naked on a stage in an empty club, for a few lone, bald sexpats).
Personally, I feel a little glad every time I hear about a coyote bar going out of business. There are beautiful girls hiding away in just about every bar in Bangkok. (Yes, the times have changed, and you’ll have to go bar hopping to find them — but many would say, that’s the fun of it all).
We don’t need another attempt to overprice Thailand’s most plentiful asset.
