Cascade Gogo Bar, Nana Plaza, Bangkok

by Suk Psycho ~ October 10th, 2008. Filed under: Go-Go Bars, Lady Boy.

Let me tell you straight away: Cascade is a Lady Boy Gogo bar. I’ve decided to add LB Gogo bar reviews on this blog for those who are into it.

I explain here this first experience for me in the LB scene.

Cascade is a huge bar with a cave theme (looks like a cave) and loaded with around 100 Lady Boys. All in bikini. Going there alone was for me a bit of a challenge, but they are not too pushy and the whole thing was rather a funny experience.

I have to mention that among the dozens of LB in this bar there is none that I really found attractive. I mean, sometimes in the street I turn around on a girl which is not a girl but looks like a stunning girl. Well, this did not happen in Cascade. For me.

About prices: a Singha beer bottle at Cascade costs 135 baht, a Lady (Boy) Drink 150 baht, the BF 600 baht. The LB of my choice (yes, I have even chosen one and asked about the price) quoted 1500 baht ST and 3000 baht LT. There is a ST room in Cascade, but I did not understand if you have to pay an extra 600 baht to go in or if this is included with the BF (I didn’t dare to ask again as I was not really interested anyway).

Cascade is located on the third floor of Nana Plaza. On the right hand side (top right corner).

Sorry to go off topic here but LB’s don’t really interest me and I wasn’t sure where to post this question.

Thus far, I’ve read through most of your entries and it seems from the MP standpoint your very knowledgeable. I seem to remember one night going out to a place called “Hollywood” or something along that line. It resembled the old “Coliseum” that was torn down 2 years ago. The set up is pretty much the same where there is a stage and live performances, by Coyote Girls, Thai Comedians, etc… I think the area was close to either “Ratchada” or “Huay Kwang”. Now, I know that most MPs’ are along Ratchada but once my friends and I left “Hollywood”, we took a quick stroll in the area and found ourselves a restaurant, what’s different about this place was that it had an LB theme. Even our waiter/waitress was an LB. The food was mostly seafood and there was a stage, where some LBs’ were performing.

My question isn’t about the LB restaurant but rather the complex. I can remember there were other restaurants as well the structure reminded me of a mall but not exactly. Anyway, somewhere in the middle of this complex was a club. It was called “White” something… Possibly “White Castle”(obviously not the US fast food chain or “White Residence”. There was a pretty big banner of several dozens of girls wearing white(almost like a fish bowl line up). I’m curious if you’ve heard of this place or know if it’s a G-Club or MP or just a regular club. It’s something I’ve been wondering about for quite some time now.

  2. SukPsycho

Hollywood is on Ratchada, however I don’t know this white place you are talking about. Try to find out next time I am in the area.

  3. Midnitesigma

    Thanks SukPsycho,
Now that I did some research it looks like Huai Kwang is actually 2 stops away from Ratchada on the MTS. I don’t quite remember the exact location but remember vaguely that it was a group of 4 of us including myself and we took the MTS via Asoke to either Ratchada or Huai Kwang(can’t remember which) but we did walk down a lengthy corridor underground and then across the street to get to Hollywood. After drinking pretty much close to 2 bottles of Johnny Walker we walked along the street to find this restaurant. If I remember correctly it was pretty much by chance since we were all hungry and restaurants seems to be all around BKK. We walked through some large awning to get to this LB restaurant filling mostly with Thais. So I’m assuming the area was mostly a Thai venue. After our meal we walked to a more populated road to hitch a cab, and it was along that path that I noticed this pretty big place inside the complex that had the banner with a few dozen girls on it saying something with the words “White ——” on it. I’ll make it a point to explore the area next time I’m in BKK. From first glance it looked like a G-Club, but I didn’t know that they had those in that area.

@Midnitesigma – If this seafood place you went to was across from Hollywood then you are talking about “The Whitehouse”. It’s a member/G/coyote/whatever you want to call it club.

The seafood complex had a big giant neon lobster sign above it…can’t be missed. It’s on Ratchada Soi 5 but the entire complex is shut down now.

All the MPs are either further up the road heading towards Poseidon or back the other way towards the intersection with Petchaburi Rd.

  5. Midnitesigma

Ah, you are absolutely correct, it was “The Whitehouse”… I guess that’s that then… All these interesting places just shutting down.

I can’t believe they shut down “Coliseum”, the only reason my friends and I went to Hollywood was because we were looking for a similar venue. Do you know of any other than Tawandang? It seems microbreweries are apt for closure. From what I understand Coliseum simply let their lease run out but why not bother to relocate? It had to be one of my best experiences in terms of live entertainment in BKK.

  6. sabai

@Midnitesigma – Whitehouse wasn’t a big loss…it was kinda old and run down. All the seafood joints will be missed though.

For a Hollywood type of venue you can check out X-zyte in Pattaya. It’s typical Thai style with comedians, coyotes, and such.

Can’t help you out with any new venues as I live in Phuket and haven’t been to BKK since Feb of this year. However you might want to check out Werewolf’s new blog over at rawbangkok.com. He’s out hitting the streets frequently and writing reports as well.

If you’re looking for a beer gardern (not the Soi 7 style) with live music and entertainment, you might want to check out the ones in front of the Central mall. It’s pretty crowded on the weekends. It’s located directly across the street from Big C and you can get there by BTS.

  7. Midnitesigma

    @sabai:
Thanks for the suggestion, will definitely hit those places once I’m in BKK. I’m curious why you chose Phuket but I’ll inquire about that some other time.

  8. SukPsycho

@ MidniteSigma: I want to check Hollywood and a few other places like the one in Bangkok Dangerous movie. I’ll write a proper report for each :)
If I could chose I would spent at least half of my time in Phuket, which in my opinion is a good compromise with beaches, girls and thailand life (but maybe boring to stay all year long).

  9. sabai

@Midnitesigma – The question is, why not choose Phuket? Clean air, nice beaches, scenic views, lazy island life, and NO TRAFFIC.

I’ve lived in BKK before and was tired of having my nose and lungs filled with crap all the time. Just going outside to get some food from the street vendor and my clothes would smell like crap after 10 minutes. Walking out onto my balcony, I could breathe in the dirtiness and be presented with views of dilapidated buildings and unfinished condo developments. Worst of all was the traffic…especially on rainy days. 1 hour or more just to go a couple miles!

Don’t get me wrong…BKK is unbeatable for nightlife, MPs, P4P action, and the girls are the best looking in the country hands down but that just isn’t everything in life. I find that Phuket offers a nice relaxed lifestyle in Thailand with just about everything you can find in BKK.

  10. sabai

@SukPsycho – Bangkok Dangerous…lol. It was a pretty crappy movie even for Nicholas Cage but it’s fun seeing BKK on the big screen and watching him waste low life Thais.

Was the Caribbean Club the only club they showed in the movie? I remember seeing a cool looking club with hot dancers from the Thai movie VDO Clip but can’t remember the name.

  11. Midnitesigma

    @sabai,
That sounds terrific. I suppose a nice laid back kinda place is too good to pass up. But since I don’t speak a word of Thai other than some broken phrases I wouldn’t really be able to survive there. I was also reading a lot of understandably slanted news articles about Phuket being dangerous probably not as much as Pattaya but nevertheless dangerous. I may have to look into this more and visit those parts of Thailand. I was considering Koh Chang but its not necessarily my main targets.

The reason I find Suk Psycho’s blog so helpful is that it will give me some ideas on where I might find a possible travel mate(female of course) to take make my vacation more convenient, especially with a native in tow.

    @Suk Psycho,
That’s great that you’ll be posting some reviews from those venues. I know they aren’t exactly P4P related but maybe you’ll find some freelancers in those joints. I’m also quite curious what those Coyote Dancers would pose as a price if they are even available at all. I noticed @ Hollywood the Coyote Dancers did step off the stage and do a meet & greet with the club goers. Prices may be beyond ridiculous but I was tempted to ask, unfortunately my party’s seating was slightly out of reach from them.

  12. sabai

@Midnitesigma – The most dangerous thing in Phuket is probably riding a motorbike. Especially on the hills in Kathu.

Other than that, I hear/read about foreigners getting mugged and robbed in remote areas late at night. Witnessed a few drunken fights on Bangla Rd. Nothing near as bad as in Pattaya though.

It’s not really necessary to speak Thai unless you’re planning to live in a rural area. With all the tourists here, most people speak some English…although it is a good idea to learn Thai if you plan on living here for awhile. My German landlord has been here for about 20 years…doesn’t speak a bit of Thai beyond greetings and thank you! It’s a bit shameful (as he should be fluent by now) but he manages to do just fine.

  13. Midnitesigma

    @sabai
I have a tendency to try exploring out of the way spots so having a Thai native might come in handy if I chose to leave the more touristy areas. But it’s great to hear that Phuket isn’t as scary as I once thought/read it’d be. I’ll definitely look into it more, thanks for the great info!

  14. Suk Psycho

@ sabai: Yes the movie is bad, but the club may be good? I don’t know if they showed other clubs in the movie. I didn’t know this one either actually.

i have been quite many times to Bangkok and very much to have an affair with a lady boy however m bit shy to be so proactive to grab one of them. so i have tried alone to enter one of those bars, but my experience very bad that non of the bar has given to me a chance to enter the bar i wonder why it does happen to me, if that case is a color of my skin or feel that i may not have a enough money to survive from the bar.
i am regular customer for Bangkok trading market and used to visit 12 to 15 times every year since 2002

  16. Andy

Curious, I went to Cascade for a look. Most of what you have said is correct. The ‘girls’ are very aggressive and 3 of them grabbed me and sat me down. Even more wanted to join in. They try their best to seduce you, fondling you and baring their breasts, making you touch them. A couple were very attractive and totally feminine, others obviously male ts.

A beer costs 135 baht, 600 baht for the bar fine and 1500 baht for the ‘girl’. There is a room for rent at Nana for 300 baht, or if you have a hotel close by you can take her there.

  17. Suk Psycho

@Andy: Yes, I try as much as possible to give correct info :)
    Thanks!

  18. Just visiting

Was in BKK in Q4 08, decided to explore LBs at Nana, normally was at Patpong area. Of the 4 LB bars, I would recommend Cascade first. Alot more selection than the other bars. Also, more room to sit, almost like a small movie theatre, so you can sit up high in the back or down front. Pressure was in that 30 dancers started dancing in front of you until you picked one, but not physical pressure. The room had maybe 10 customers. Agree with the 600 BF and the 1500/3000. There is a ST hotel in Nana plaza itself, but better to avoid health issues and go back to your hotel. The more agressive dancers in the front are more experienced, the others hang in the back. The staff is friendly. LB Drink was only 100 but maybe they raised prices since. The other bar which was #2 in my mind had a carasol of LBs which was nice, half danced and half visited. The other 2 bars are tiny. There was no place to sit, the girls were not that many and the selection less. But they were taller. The nice thing about Nana is you know what you are walking into and what to expect, whereas Patpong is still alittle guessing game with mixed bars. The trick to me on Cascade was if you did not see any beauties, leave and come back in an hour or two.

  19. Just visiting

I was in BKK for 8 days mid March, so decided to try all the 4 LB bars at NEP. Overall, Cascade is #1 in my mind for the number and selection of ladies. It is the most comfortable, in that it is a large seating area so you can kick back and just watch from afar, or do anything else you want. You are welcomed upon entry but they really are steering you to a good sitting area, and trying to get your attention. I came in about 10:30 one night and they had a full musical show going on, surprised but very nicely done. A cola drink range from 80 to 120 depending on the night. I think there is a new mamasan from the last time I went last year. The ladies ranged from silicon to hormones to not much at all. The cost for 2 hours ST is 1500, for overnight is 3000. BF is 600. Not much room to negotiate in these. LB drinks I think were 150 but can’t remember. OK to take 2 back to the hotel if you are up to it!
I came one time, the best lookers were already out, so I walked the other bars and came back a couple hours later, my favorites were back.

  20. niggle

thanks for all the comments here. will be there in June for my 1st time in bangkok and it seems Cascade is the bar highly recommended.are the ladyboys active too or mainly passive?

  21. Suk Psycho

@Niggle: if you mean in the bar, they’re rather active. If you mean in the bed, I don’t know!!!

  22. rossco

Remember Niggle behave otherwise you get that famous kick. And an army of lb’s coming after you is quite a show.

    Good luck

  23. niggle

hahahaa is that famous kick vicious? what is it exactly or should I no ask? Looking forward to the trip and fun times

  24. rossco

    niggle

your attitude is the perfect invitation to the famous kick. Nobody can learn a boyscout like you anything. Good luck with your visit to Bangkok. I hope your first visit isn’t your last. I would temper a bit unless you really love to fight an army of ladyboys in the end. And take my word then they won’t be passive.
Or perhaps skip cascades and walk straight forward to casanovas. The lb’s there know how to handle a bimbo like you.
    Get it honey?

  25. niggle

ok rossco thanks for the advice

  26. rossco

    Hello Niggle

Glad you accepted my advice. What I meant is ladyboys can be fun but please be aware they are not like girls. Some can behave quite unpredictable. In most cases then if you are not aware it can go to worse. Believe me don’t ever think of fighting them. They are males and most can fight or bring friends to help.
If you get in an argument with them try to stay calm and solve it with a smile until you get out of the situation. Even if you feel it is not fair.
Anyway have a nice trip and take everything easy
