That’s a question I saw on another blog. As the blogger did not respond, I will do it here. Actually, like him I guess, I assumed everyone would know, but hey, we forget we’re living in a different place.

If Private Bangkok has it right, Coyote Clubs appeared in Bangkok (and in Thailand) shortly after a movie with the same name which kind of created the need.

I don’t know of any “Coyote Club” movie, so I guess the movie was actually Coyote Ugly, which was released at the end of 2000.

Coyote Clubs could be described as high end Gogo bars where pretty girls dressed sexy (and usually dressed more than in Gogo bars) dance on different stages. The BIG difference with Gogo bars (beside the price of drinks), is that Coyote Girls don’t go out. At least not officially. There is no barfine and no ST/LT. Girls are here to dance, have fun with you, private dance, gropping, etc. but you can’t take them home.

I still have to go there and experience by myself. Some guys say the girls are educated students smarter and funnier than their Gogo counterpart. They also say you can get their phone numbers and meet them outside after a while.

One thing for sure, Coyote Clubs don’t come cheap. Drinks are overpriced, and you have to pay for the hostesses/dancers to seat with you. It’s usually cheaper to buy a membership card, which costs 2 to 3 times the monthly average salary in Thailand, but gives you a few free Chivas bottles.

To get respectability, they often are referred to as Gentlemen Clubs, or G-Clubs. Famous Coyote Clubs/G-Clubs in Bangkok include The Pent, The Soprano, The Resort, The St. Moritz.

The Coyote Clubs being obviously successful, some “Gogo-like” Coyote Clubs have also appeared in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. They are not as hype, as classy and as expensive as the G-Clubs, but they work the same way. Unlike them, they often use the name Coyote Bar or Coyote Club.

The “third kind” or Coyote Clubs are the “Gogo bars with Coyote”, a mix of Gogo bar and Coyote Club featuring Gogo girls (who go out) and Coyote girls (who are expensive). See my previous post for more info.

Now you know! Try to find your way around, but remember: If you are looking for true P4P, Coyote Clubs are definitely not the best choice. Even Coyote Clubs lovers will tell you that.
