New rule for the blog and forum

by Suk Psycho ~ March 13th, 2010

Yeah I know, the rules are changing all the times, but what’s the point in having rules if I can’t change them all the time? ;)

Actually I heard you guys and realized that blog comments would make the whole thing more lively and reactive. So here is the new rule: The comments will be opened for 5 days for each new post on the blog. Then the discussion will move to the forum (comments closed on the blog).

This way we can still have an active discussion on the blog, but on a longer term the discussion will happen on the forum. All you have to do is to follow the link from the post to the forum.

If you want to comment a post that is more than 5 days old and has no link to the forum yet, then feel free to start the forum topic and I will link the post and the forum.

Let’s try this!

Not Guest Friendly Hotel: Royal Benja Hotel Bangkok

by Suk Psycho ~ March 10th, 2010

Royal Benja Hotel, this huge hotel (392 rooms) located at the very end of Sukhumvit soi 5 is not Guest Friendly. They charge 800 baht per guest.

They also charge an expensive 300 baht per day for Internet.

However this may be negotiable: the double room that they quote at 3,000 baht at the front desk are currently discounted at 1,740 baht on Agoda. Almost half of the price discount in the middle of the high season! I guess they’re having a hard time to fill the hotel.

Royal Benja Hotel is well located, although it starts to be quite of a walk to reach Sukhumvit road (by Bangkok standards, walking more than 5 minutes is considered a long walk).

All the Guest Friendly Hotels in Bangkok are listed here.

Note: I always check the hotels and verify the information provided here, however I strongly suggest that you confirm all details with the reception BEFORE booking. Prices are valid at the time of writing only.

Very Cheap Guest Friendly Hotel Bangkok: Orchid Inn, Sukhumvit soi 4

by Suk Psycho ~ March 6th, 2010

Orchid Inn Bangkok (they also have Orchid House further down the street) is one of these small hotels scattered on Sukhumvit soi 4. They’re probably the best deal in town, except for the Khao San Road area.

Some of them are quite run down, some of them have even become Short Time hotels (like the 2 hotels on the small sub-soi where the Big Mango bar is), but Orchid Inn offers a reasonable value for money. The rooms are neither too small nor too dirty. Old, for sure, but still in good condition.

The bed is ok and there is a TV. That’s it. Don’t expect more facilities.

And of course, Orchid Inn is Guest Friendly.

They charge 700 baht for a night. You’ll have a hard time to find a cheaper price so close to the nightlife and the BTS. They also offer weekly rates and monthly rates.

Orchid Inn is not on Agoda, nor do they have a website. The hotel is located on Sukhumvit soi 4 opposite Swann Bar (next to the new Heaven@4 Hotel). You can just walk in but you’d better book ahead. For reservation, you can call 66 2656-8877 or email orchid_inn@hotmail.com

All the Guest Friendly Hotels in Bangkok are listed here.

Wonderful Massage Bangkok

by Suk Psycho ~ March 2nd, 2010

No this is not an empty promise, this is a small teen-like massage shop tucked away on Washington Square, Sukhumvit soi 22. If you want to try something new, this may be the place.

Wonderful Massage is located next to Sazanka Korea Style Akasuri & Massage, past the Bourbon Street Restaurant and Pub, on Washington Square.

Small and simple shop with few girls, but not all too bad looking. And the 1hour Thai Massage is only 250 baht, which is a bargain! 400 baht for an Oil Massage. They have a book with the pictures of the girls, or you can chose in the small room/fishbowl, which means that naughty things might happen in the private rooms. ;)

Wonderful Massage and all other teen massage shops are listed here.

Guest Friendly Hotel Bangkok: Sky Inn Hotel, Sukhumvit soi 3

by Suk Psycho ~ February 28th, 2010

Sky Inn Hotel, or Hotel by the Sky Train, as they nickname it (but it’s not really this hotel that deserves that name. I would rather give this name to 24 Inn Hotel) is a small Hotel located on a small sub-soi off Sukhumvit soi 3 (soi Nana Nua). Actually they have Sky Inn and Sky Inn 2 that are opposite one from the other on one of these small sub-sois that lead to Sukhumvit soi 5.

Sky Inn 2 is a more recent building. The rooms are nicer and a bit more expensive: Standard Rooms are priced 1,400 baht and Superior Rooms 1,700. At Sky Inn 1, respective prices are 1,200 and 1,500.

All rooms come with free Wifi, but no breakfast, as there is no kitchen and no bar in both hotels. However there are plenty of restaurants, shops and other hotels in the area for a quick breakfast at any time of the day.

Sky Inn Bangkok is guest friendly.

You’re in the middle of Little Arabia, which is exotic, to say the least, but the location is quite good, close to Sukhumvit and Nana Plaza. A place to consider, especially if you want to try the chubby girls of the Grace Hotel and the unique Kebabs of Sukhumvit soi 3.

Toy Bar Soi Cowboy Bangkok, by Lumpini

by Suk Psycho ~ February 26th, 2010

In Soi Cowboy. Mainly geared toward on-premises HJ, but as I was pleasantly surprised to learn last night, they now have one ST room upstairs. A rather nice one too, with a shower room — no toilet — attached, not down the hall like at the other HJ bars that have ST rooms upstairs, such as Fanny’s and Jungle Jim’s.

I’ve avoided this place in the past, due to heavy lady-drink requests, but I thought I’d stop in and check, since it’d been awhile. Glad I did! The usual 6 or 8 girls crowded around me when I sat down. Chose one and waved the others away. The one I selected was named Noot, but for some reason she spells it Not. Wore jeans and a nice spaghetti-strap top. The jeans told me she did not dance up on the small gogo stage. We got pretty friendly pretty quickly. I let her have a tequila, but she didn’t start downing drinks quickly. She even forgot she had a tequila in front of her after it arrived!
