You probably know it by now. Or maybe not. The new Airport Rail Link connecting Suvarnabhumi Airport and Bangkok Downtown has opened a few days ago.
As a Bangkok Nightlife punter, why would you care?
Well, at least for two reasons:
- it will give you new opportunities to explore everything Bangkok has to offer, without having to rely on clueless taxi drivers in endless traffic jams,
- for those in transit a few hours at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, this is your best chance for a quickie downtown without the risk of missing your connecting flight!
This map from johomaps.com (click to enlarge) is a good one because it shows how the new line (purple) connects with the existing lines and where it is located compare to existing lines and famous nightspots (Nana, Asoke, Silom, etc.).

The Direct Express Train will take 15 minutes from the City Air Terminal (Makkasan) train station to the Airport and will cost 100 baht till the end of 2010 and 150 baht afterward.
The Commuter Train (City Line) will make eight stops across the capital, starting at Phaya Thai, before heading to the airport. The trains take 30 minutes from Phaya Thai to Suvarnabhumi. Passengers using the City Line pay a flat rate of 15 baht for a trip during the promotion period. Fares will range from 15 baht to 45 baht, depending on the distance travelled, after Jan 1, 2011.

Rex Hotel Bangkok is one of the historical hotels of Bangkok and a landmark on Sukhumvit.
You can find lots of reports on the Internet of old timers commenting about the good old times in yesteryear Bangkok and the famous hotels of these days. Rex Hotel is one of them. However it doesn’t look as disused as some other hotels of the same period like the Miami Hotel on Soi 13, for example.
The current rate for a double room with breakfast is 1,180 baht per night. The superior room goes for 1,690 baht per night. There is no Internet in the room and only two computers available for free in the lobby.
Rex Hotel Bangkok is guest friendly.
Facilities include a roof top pool, a coffee shop and a barber shop/beauty salon.
Located in the very very small Sukhumvit soi 32, with direct access to Sukhumvit road, the location is good, but not great. Thonglor BTS Station is at walking distance and plenty of taxis are available on Sukhumvit road to take you all around Bangkok.
For a taste of the historical Bangkok of 30 years ago, try the Rex Hotel. Else, check Agoda!

Fruity Spa is very far from Bangkok downtown. The closest MRT Station is the Lad Phrao station, but still you need a taxi to reach the shop. If you don’t have your own car/motorcycle, you’d better book in advance.
The small shop is located in an apartment building on the ground floor, on Lad Phrao soi 43/1 (between 43 and 45). They have around 15 girls available, but not all are girls actually. They openly announce 2 lady boys (1 is on their website) and 1 Tom (Tom Boy I guess).
Unlike many teen massage shops, their basic offer is quite expensive (799 baht for 1 hour oil massage and 999 baht for 1.5 hours) and their packages are not very clear: 1 hour Top option for 1,299 baht but it’s not clear what you get. It seems to be a no-bra option. Swinging option is with 2 girls but once again you don’t know what you get for 1,999 (1 hour).
If you don’t want to take any risk, this is not the recommended shop!
The good thing is that the shop is open till 4 am, which is pretty uncommon for a Teen Massage Shop.
All the Teen Massage Shops are here.

We told you before: Don’t rely on pictures!
When you look at the photo book in a massage shop, don’t trust the pictures. Use them for a preselection of 3-4 girls and then chose “live”. Thai girls always look good on pictures.

Fonthip Watcharatrakul – Miss Thailand 2010
Look at the Miss Universe contest: Miss Thailand 2010 did not even finish in the Top 10. Not even in the Top 15. Actually we don’t even know her ranking. But what we know is that she won Best Costume (who said Cosplay?) and Miss Photogenic. Yes, Miss Photogenic! Sounds like: “looks good on the pics, but only on the pics”.
The winner was Miss Mexico, who, in my opinion, looks good on pictures too!

A reader in Chiang Mai complains he can’t access Sukhumvit-Psycho.com blog and forums anymore. His Internet Provider is TRUE.
Do we have other readers in Chiang Mai experiencing the same problem?
Thanks!

Naree is a Teen Massage shop with a traditional-massage-shop look and website: If you look at the website or enter the shop, it looks very innocent. However it is naughty. And more than that! It’s also the home of Bangkok Domination, a S&M service.
In an obvious attempt to become your one-stop-naughty-nightlife-service, Naree is now offering some of the cheapest rooms in (this part of) town: Naree Suites rooms. 700 baht per night. Including free WIFI Internet and free cable TV.
Being what it is, Naree Hotel is guest friendly. You can even rent the Dungeon room that they use for Bangkok Domination!
(probably for more than 700 baht though).
Naree Hotel is located near the middle of Sukhumvit soi 4, on the left hand side, at walking distance of Sukhumvit Road and Nana Plaza.
If you’re looking for a cheap but very well located place on lower Sukhumvit, don’t look further. Else, check Agoda:

It’s not a new place, obviously, but I had not seen it before. It’s tucked away in a small plaza opposite Witch’s Tavern on Sukhumvit soi 55, between Thong Lor soi 9 and Thong Lor soi 11.
Fifty-Fifth Center is on the left hand side when you enter the small plaza full of shops and restaurants.
It looks like a Massage Parlor but it is more like a Teen place. A few girls are sitting on a sofa. Not sure they have a picture book, though. Oil massage is 500 baht for 1,5 hours, and specials are available at regular rate. Nothing outstanding but if you are in the area or lazy to go somewhere else…
Rooms are small but nice and clean and with private shower.

Star Inn Hotel Bangkok is an hotel and a short time hotel ideally located if you meet a freelancer from the soi 3-soi 5 area, Gulliver’s (on soi 5) or New Wave (on soi 7). Star Inn Hotel is located on Sukhumvit soi 7/1, on the right hand side, past Bangkok Beat beer bar.
They charge 300 baht for a very small but comfy room with a private shower but no toilet. The large bed occupies much of the available space and there is not much space to move around. Stay on the bed.
Last time I went there they had no condom at the desk and I was lucky enough that my “escort” of the day had one. Stop at the closest 7-Eleven to make sure you don’t have to walk around to find one.

What are they doing with Nana Plaza???
They have destroyed all the beer bars in the center of the Plaza and are now rebuilding who-knows-what.
I give you 3 possible answers.
Find the right one and win a 5 hour Massage Session in a multi-pop A level place (conditions apply).

Nana Plaza – August 2010
A) a Parking Lot?
B) a Swimming Pool?
C) a Food Court?

If your plan was to stay at Windsor Suites Hotel on Sukhumvit soi 20, until you realized that it is not guest friendly, here is a back up plan for you!
Drop Inn Bangkok is a new boutique hotel located in a small sub-soi at the very beginning of Sukhumvit soi 20, on the right hand side. Not far from Windsor Suite Hotel and Scratch Dog night club.
During the low season (until October 31st 2010), the superior room costs 1,400 baht per night including free breakfast and free Wifi Internet in the room.
No swimming pool, no fitness room, but Drop Inn Bangkok is guest friendly and ideally located, near Sukhumvit Road, Asok BTS Station, Phrom Phong BTS Station and soi Cowboy.
And yet this small sub-soi is very quiet and discreet.
